Philippians 1: 9-10

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

As a Christian our communication should always be open to God. We should always be asking for His will to be done in our lives. Our Father wants nothing more than for us to feel  the love and understanding He has for us, but in order for Him to teach us that same love, compassion and righteousness we must constantly be asking Him to show us those things and to teach us how to use then. God wants us to be filled with the fruits of His spirit, but good are the fruits to us if we do not use them in our everyday lives. He blesses us beyond understanding over and over, but somehow tend to thank man rather than our Father. When we take the law and the fruits He has given us and use them to share His love with others His blessing become understandable and His direction becomes knowledge that we will pass on to others till Christ come back.
